About
Reiho Seizan
Seizan kiln was founded by Kataoka Makoto in 1889 and is recognized by bonsai masters as a great ceramicist. Seizan from its beginnings has worked hard to faithfully reproduce the ancient Kowatari pots from China. With the goal of learning about the Kowatari method, Kataoka Makoto studied in China for many years, also being the designer of many of his own creations. Currently, the kiln is run by his son Katsushi Kataoka, better known as Reiho. From a very young age, he learned by watching his father's way of making pots, and his mission is to continue his predecessor's will by creating pots following the aesthetics of bonsai masters, without adding anything unnecessary, despite having acquired advanced skills.
